Project Engineer

Basic Function

This position is responsible for mechanical project planning, scheduling, and execution at the Augusta facility. Supports Project Manager to deliver results and achieve project goals through effective and efficient project management skills, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Major Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the engineering group to provide any assistance needed for project development and design.
  • Attend regularly scheduled engineering and project team meetings to provide appropriate feedback regarding project status and schedule.
  • Responsible for developing job scopes per design and acquiring the necessary quotes for installation.
  • Responsible for acquiring equipment quotations to accommodate process design needs.
  • Responsible for establishing and recording financial documents for project implementation, and provide data for accounting records.
  • Manage multiple project installations from design to completion, consisting of process/utilities equipment, piping and structural installation work.
  • Provide input on project schedule smartsheet for communication of work being performed, projected dates for completion, and overall percentage complete.
  • Provide professional input regarding mechanical and process design recommendations for various project and site improvement projects as needed.
  • Provide assistance to the mechanical maintenance department as it relates to project needs.
  • Manage contract service groups to safely, reliably, and efficiently install machinery and equipment per design.
  • Insure compliance to safety, environmental and quality policies.


Position Qualifications

Education/Work Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering (with 3-5 years of experience)
  • If no engineering degree, must have a minimum of 15+ years of experience with mechanical process operations and equipment project installations in an industrial/manufacturing environment.


  • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment, piping systems, and materials of construction.
  • Working knowledge of fabrication/design, repair, and inspection codes.
  • Must be able to read system P&IDs, PFDs, ISOs, and engineering design drawings.
  • Must be able to follow minimal instructions and support safe work practices.
  • Must be able to function responsibly as part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate leadership necessary as this position provides direct supervision to contract personnel.
  • Must demonstrate ability to interact with facility employees, corporate personnel, outside vendors, contractors and customers.


  • Familiar with PSM and cGMP systems.


  • Physical demand requirements are in excess of sedentary work due to project preparations and install work.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must be able to wear required protective equipment including respirators.
  • Work schedule will vary during shutdowns and other extraordinary conditions.
